Project Overview
Client: Potable Water Authority
Location: GCC
Year of Commissioning: 2010
Application: Potable water for residential use
Capacity: 2,000 m³/day
Project Background
A coastal residential area required a compact desalination system to provide safe drinking water. The feedwater, drawn from the sea at an 8-meter depth, contained high salinity and undesirable compounds.
Engineering Solution
The system was designed to treat seawater with 37,000 ppm salinity using:
Clarifier
Lamella settler
Sand filtration
Activated carbon
Reverse osmosis
Chlorine removal

A European technology partner supported the design and commissioning.
Operational Results
The system has reliably produced potable water, meeting WHO standards. Seasonal variations in turbidity and biological content were effectively managed.
Regional Impact
The project ensured clean water access for a growing residential community, reducing reliance on water trucking and improving public health.
