Reuse of oily wastewater for cooling and process water

Project Overview

Client: Steel Factory

Location: Middle East

Year of Commissioning: 2022

Application: Reuse of oily wastewater for cooling and process water

Capacity: 24,000 m³/day

Project Background

The steel plant aimed to reuse all wastewater generated from industrial, administrative, and surface runoff sources. The feedwater contained heavy metals, oils, and suspended solids, requiring advanced treatment.

Engineering Solution

The treatment process included:

Clarifier

Lamella separator

Mixer and sedimentation

pH adjustment

Sand filtration

Cartridge filtration

Three-stage RO

The system was designed in collaboration with three international partners specializing in membrane and oil separation technologies.

Operational Results

The plant now reuses treated water for upstream processes and cooling, significantly reducing discharge volumes and freshwater intake.

Regional Impact

This project set a new benchmark for industrial water reuse, supporting environmental compliance and reducing the plant’s ecological footprint.
