Project Overview
Client: Petrochemical Process Water Division
Location: Middle East
Year of Commissioning: 2007
Application: Industrial wastewater treatment
Capacity: 240 m³/h
Project Background
The petrochemical facility required a comprehensive treatment system for oily wastewater containing heavy metals and hydrocarbons. The feedwater was drawn from river sources with high seasonal turbidity and organic load.
Engineering Solution
The treatment process included:
Clarifier
Lamella separator
Sand filtration
Activated carbon filtration
Reverse osmosis (RO)

The system was designed in collaboration with a European partner, ensuring compliance with environmental discharge standards and enabling partial reuse of treated water.
Operational Results
The plant has successfully treated oily wastewater for safe discharge and partial reuse in process cooling. Seasonal variations in feedwater quality were effectively managed.
Regional Impact
This project reduced pollutant discharge into natural water bodies and supported sustainable petrochemical operations. It demonstrated RoperBerk’s capability in handling complex industrial effluents.
